Product Description

EasyClip™ X-Series™ Clip Angles feature extra-long legs (2" x 2") and are designed to securely attach U-channel to wall studs for lateral bridging. The U-channel passes through the stud knockout, and the EasyClip™ X-Series™ clip is attached with screws or welded to create a rigid connection. Note that X-Series™ clip angles and U-channel are not suitable for lateral bridging when the stud width exceeds 8". These versatile X-Series™ clip angles are also ideal for connecting framing members, as well as reinforcing headers and sills in door and window openings. With factory pre-punched holes, EasyClip™ X-Series™ clips enable faster and more precise fastener placement. Installation: 1- Screw Attachment: Secure EasyClip™ X-Series™ Clip Angles to cold-formed steel (CFS) framing members using #10 self-drilling screws at minimum. Insert the screws through the prepunched clip holes into the steel framing. When used for bridging applications, fill all four pilot clip holes. For other support or connection uses, refer to the manufacturer's published allowable capacity chart to determine the required number of fasteners. Ensure fasteners are evenly spaced. 2- Welding Attachment: Clips can also be welded to cold-formed steel (CFS) framing. 3- Connection to Primary Building Structure: Use powder-actuated fasteners, drill-in concrete anchors, or welding to connect clips to the building frame. For a welded clip, provide a full weld to the structure, top to bottom, along the outside of the clip to achieve the values in manufacturer's published load tables. Additionally, a 3/4" minimum weld to the outside edge of the 2" leg is recommended to control warping (also holds the clip in place before final welding). When installing powder-actuated fasteners, place them at least 1/2" away from the prepunched holes.
