Product Description

Strait-Flex Wide-Flex is a versatile mud-on, paper-faced composite corner bead designed to adjust to any angle, creating flawless inside and outside 90° and off-angle corners. This 4” tape features a pre-finished surface with a PUR-laminated nose, which ensures perfect corners without any paper fuzz-up during finishing and sanding. Its outer edge features a diamond punch pattern, which enables a superior bond, faster drying, and prevents any rippling or blistering. Installation: 1- Ensure the corner surfaces are clean and smooth. 2- Measure the corner and subtract 1/2". For accurate measuring and reduced waste, feed the Wide-Flex roll through the slot on top of the box and hook the tape measure on the hole below. 3- Fold Wide-Flex in half with the print side facing out. For outside corners, fold more than the desired angle. For inside corners, fold less than the desired angle. Professionals often prefer to cut the ends of Wide-Flex at a 45º angle. 4- Using a 4” or 5” taping knife, apply a liberal coat of all-purpose joint compound to both sides of the corner. 5- Press Wide-Flex into the wet compound, adjusting if necessary to create a straight line. Wipe down tightly with the taping knife, applying a little additional pressure on the outer edges. Allow to dry completely over several hours or overnight. 6- Apply a light skim coat of compound to the outer edges of Wide-Flex using a 4” or 5” taping knife. No compound is required over the laminated area of Wide-Flex. Wipe down tightly and smooth. Let dry completely over several hours or overnight. 7- Apply the final coat of joint compound with a 6” or 8” taping knife, feathering the compound beyond the previous coat. A very light coat of compound is sufficient. Using lightweight compound in this step makes sanding easier. Allow to dry completely over several hours or overnight. 8- Lightly sand with 120 grit sandpaper. Wide-Flex does not fuzz-up like paper or mesh tapes.
