Product Description

Universal Bypass Clips are used to connect exterior curtain wall studs to the primary building structure, offering either a rigid or deflecting connection for vertical building movement of up to 3" independent of the cold-formed steel framing. Available in standard lengths of 6", 8”, 10”, and 12”, these clips are well-suited for medium to large standoff conditions. Installation is efficient using either screws, welds, or powder-actuated fasteners, providing an adjustable standoff to ensure a plumb wall plane. For deflection applications, each clip comes with proprietary deflection screws to facilitate friction-free sliding. Installation: Connections to the building can be established using screws, welds, or powder-actuated fasteners. Mechanical fasteners must be positioned on the embossed marks provided on the scored line of the 1-7/8" flange. Attach building anchors to the structure in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Anchors should be installed through the embossments on the scored line of the clip. Ensure that anchors are not placed more than 3/4" away from the bend on the short leg of the clip. In cases where there is a discrepancy between this information and the Design Engineer’s details, the Design Engineer’s details should take precedence. For a Rigid Connection: Fasten the Universal Bypass Clip to cold-formed steel (CFS) framing members using six #10-16 (minimum) self-drilling screws (not included) for the 14ga clip and six #12-14 (minimum) self-drilling screws (not included) for the 12ga clip. Insert the screws through the clip holes and drive them into the steel framing. For a Deflection Connection: Secure the Universal Bypass Clip to the cold-formed steel (CFS) framing by using three #14 proprietary deflection screws (included with clip). Insert these screws through the three slotted holes, positioning them to accommodate the necessary building deflection.
