Product Description
The Simpson Strong-Tie H16 Hurricane Tie is designed for high-capacity wind resistance. This tie securely connects trusses and rafters to wall plates in wood-framed structures. Its presloped seat, angled at 5:12, allows for a tight fit and minimizes deflection during wind events. The H16 is versatile for a range of truss heel heights from 4" up to 13-1/2", and the tie is constructed from 18-gauge galvanized steel for enhanced corrosion resistance. This connector offers strong protection against uplift and lateral forces, ensuring long-lasting performance in regions prone to hurricanes, high winds, and seismic activity. The H16 model features a 1-5/8" wide seat. See H16-2 for a 3-1/4" wide seat. Installation: To install the H16, use all manufacturer specified fasteners to achieve load table values. The presloped design facilitates an accurate fit. This hurricane tie is compatible with trusses or rafters at a pitch from 3/12 to 7/12. Designed for a minimum heel height of 4". Note that this connector does not replace solid blocking in the framing structure.
