Product Description

The ABA adjustable post base series by Simpson Strong-Tie is designed to secure wood posts to existing concrete, offering flexibility and durability in a range of construction applications. These post bases feature engineered geometry allowing for minor adjustments to ensure proper alignment, making them ideal for both retrofit and new construction projects. With a heavy-duty design, corrosion resistance, and compatibility with various post sizes, the ABA series provides long-lasting stability and increased protection against uplift to resist seismic and wind loading. The design also features a 1" standoff from concrete to prevent rot. This multipurpose post base is available in sizing to match 2x, 4x4, 4x6, and 6x6 lumber, both nominal and rough cut. These connectors feature a ZMAX corrosion resistant coating. The ABA66RZ model is designed ro receive a rough 6x6 post. Installation: To install the ABA adjustable post base, first, make sure the concrete surface is clean and level. Position the post base over the anchor bolt in the concrete, then adjust the base as needed to achieve proper alignment with the post. Secure the post base by tightening the nut on the anchor bolt. Once the base is securely in place, position the wood post within the base, ensuring that it is centered and level. Finally, fasten the post to the base using the appropriate screws (typically Strong-Drive SD Connector screws) or nails. Note these clips do not provide significant resistance against post rotation and are therefore not recommended for applications without top support such as carports or fences.
