The Simpson Strong-Tie 4x4 Elevated Post Base 12in pipe with hot-dipped galvanized coating (EPB44-12HDG) is engineered for securing wood posts to cast concrete, providing essential standoff to prevent water damage and wood rot, effectively extending the life of your posts and columns. EPB44-12HDG allows 1" to 2-1/2" clearance above concrete. A 2" standoff will provide enough room for moisture barrier and surface finish while still maintaining the 1" standoff required for code. Made from durable steel, the EPB is available in various sizes and base styles for both 4x4 and 4x6 posts. Installation: The Simpson Strong-Tie EPB44-12HDG is designed to be cast in place. After the concrete sets, insert the post into the base and fasten using appropriate screws or nails, such as 0.162 x 3-1/2 nails. Follow all manufacturer guidelines and applicable building codes for proper installation. Post bases do not provide adequate rotational resistance for post members, so this base is not recommended for applications without top support (fences, unbraced carports, etc.)
