Product Description

Strait-Flex Original offers a flexible solution for creating clean inside and outside 90-degree and off-angle corners, all while using significantly less compound than traditional corner beads. Its unique slotted-edge design provides a superior bond to drywall, and the material used to manufacture Strai-Flex Original prevents fuzz-up during finishing and sanding. This corner bead is perfect for bay windows, coffered ceilings, and any inside corners with gaps. Strait-Flex Original is compatible with all-purpose joint compound. Installation: 1- Cut Strait-Flex Original to the required length and trim the ends at 45-degree angles. 2- Fold Strait-Flex Original in half at the center crease with the printed sides facing each other. For outside corners, fold more than the desired angle with the print side facing the wall. For inside corners, fold less than the desired angle with the print side facing out. 3- Apply all-purpose compound to the corner. Press Original into the wet compound and adjust if necessary to create a straight line. 4- Wipe down tight and smooth with a taping knife. 5- Apply the first finishing coat of compound immediately. Let it dry completely, for several hours or overnight. 6- Using a 6” or 8” taping knife, apply the final coat of compound, feathering it beyond the previous coat. For inside corners, only a very light coat is needed. Let it dry completely, for several hours or overnight. 7- Sand lightly with 120 grit sandpaper. Strait-Flex Original will not fuzz up like paper or mesh tapes. 8- Alternatively, install Strait-Flex Original on an outside corner with the print side facing out. This way, the product’s pronounced nose faces the wall, allowing the corner to be finished without a nose. The flock backing will face the wall, enhancing bonding strength. However, be aware that excessive wiping can remove too much mud from the backside, causing flange pop due to the "memory" of the hinge in the nose of Strait-Flex Original. To avoid this, we recommend installing with the print side facing in on an outside corner, but you can achieve the same fast, straight, and strong finish with either method.
