ClarkDietrich DHOW8-HG DRIFT HEAD OF WALL 8IN 14GA 3-1/2" x 7-11/16" x 68mils (14ga) (bucket of 25)
ClarkDietrich DHOW8-HG DRIFT HEAD OF WALL 8IN 14GA 3-1/2" x 7-11/16" x 68mils (14ga) (bucket of 25)
Product Description
ClarkDietrich Drift Head-of-Wall clips are designed to accommodate deflection conditions in in-fill curtain wall assemblies and interior non-load-bearing partitions, allowing both vertical (deflection) and lateral (drift) movement. These clips can be used alone or in conjunction with deflection tracks. The Drift Head-of-Wall clips can be attached to the underside of structural members, concrete decks, or floor assemblies. Structural attachments should be centered in the slot to permit building drift. The "C" shaped end of the clip slides inside the structural stud without fastening, enabling vertical deflection. Studs must be cut shorter than full height to allow for up to 2" of vertical movement (1" up and down). U.S. Patent No. D839,078 Installation: The Drift HOW clips come in two designs. The DHOW-LG (light gauge) is suitable for structural stud gauges 33mils (20ga), 43mils (18ga) or 54mils (16ga). The DHOW-HG (heavy gauge) is suitable for 68mils (14ga) or 97mils (12ga) structural studs. Attach to the primary structure using 1/4-14 screws or concrete anchors, ensuring they are driven through the slotted holes and centered to allow for building drift. For proper slip, back-out the fasteners about 1/2 turn. The "C" shaped end of the clip should slide inside the structural stud without fastening, allowing for vertical deflection. Place drywall screws in the stud at least 4" away from the slotted leg of the clip.
