Product Description
The Simpson Strong-Tie H14 Hurricane Tie is designed for high uplift load resistance in wood construction. The embossments on the H14 add stiffness in crucial areas for improved performance. These U-shaped hurricane ties that are specifically designed for coastal conditions are the go-to tie for high-wind areas. These ties provide a connection between the truss or rafter and the wall of the structure that helps resist wind and seismic forces. This clip is faster to install than using two single-sided ties. Use of additional fasteners into the top plates and rafter or truss provide higher uplift. The H14 comes with a pre-bent flange that attaches underneath the double top plate. This flange can be straightened to allow installation on a header. The H14 is made of 18 gauge steel and features a G90 galvanized finish. Installation: Install the H14 Hurricane Tie using all manufacturer specified fasteners. Position the pre-bent flange under the double top plate for a strong connection. Flange can be bent down for installation on headers. This clip is not a replacement for solid blocking. Avoid fastening through truss plates from behind to prevent performance issues.
