Product Description

The Simpson Strong-Tie PB44Z Post Base is designed to secure 4x4 wood posts to concrete, providing connections for posts and columns to decks, patio covers, and other top-supported structures. Made from ZMAX coated steel, this post base is built for durability and corrosion resistance in various environments. Its non-standoff design makes it ideal for projects requiring a closer fit to the concrete surface. Note that post bases do not provide adequate resistance to prevent posts from rotating about the base. Not recommended for installations without top support (fences, unbraced carports, etc). Installation: To install, position the PB44Z post base at the desired location in the concrete. Embeds in wet concrete for cast-in-place attachment. 2" minimum side cover is required. Attach the wood post using nails or bolts in the designated prepunched hole grid. Holes are provided for installation with either 0.162" x 3 1/2" nails or 1/2" bolts for PB66 and PB66R; all other models use 0.162" x 3 1/2" nails only.
